Overview
Welcome to the 6th Consolidated Term of Student Government Senate at ±«Óãtv St. Petersburg!
The mission of the Student Government at the ±«Óãtv St. Petersburg campus is to be the premier opportunity for student engagement, to provide a space where all students are equally heard and represented, and to enhance each student's experience and development to the fullest.
The Legislative Branch of Student Government is comprised of the Senate, which serves as the official voice of the student body through elected representatives known as Senators. For the 6th Consolidated Term, ±«Óãtv St. Petersburg has 5 Senate seats.
Senate meetings occur every Tuesday at 6:00 PM via Microsoft Teams. Students are welcome
to attend and observe.

The primary responsibilities of the Senate include:
Allocating Activity & Service (A&S) fee funding to student organizations, departments,
and programs.
Enacting, amending, or repealing Student Government statutes and resolutions.
Confirming or denying Executive Branch appointees.
Proposing constitutional amendments.
Overriding Executive vetoes with a two-thirds vote, if necessary.
Leading student engagement efforts through outreach events, social media, and town
halls.
Interested in joining the Senate?
You must be elected by your peers during the General Election (Spring) or Midterm
Election (Fall). As a Senator, you will:
Attend at least two of the five standing committees.
Participate in weekly General Assembly meetings.
Serve as a representative voice for the ±«ÓãtvSP student body.
The Senate uses student-paid A&S fees to fund a variety of student-centered programs
and departments, including but not limited to:
- 100+ Student Organizations
- Sports Club Federation
- Campus Recreation Center
- Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement
- Multicultural Affairs
- Student Government Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches
- Student Life & Engagement
- Harborside Activities Board
- Waterfront Programs
- University Student Center
- New Student Connections
