Emily Morgan Amick, a graduate researcher in the ±«Óătv College of Engineering, earned first-place honors at both the ±«Óătv Graduate Student Research Symposium and the statewide Conference for Florida Graduate Schools.
Amick’s research, titled “Counting the Stars: Establishment of the Astrocyte Population in the Auditory Brainstem,” earned her first place in the Physical Sciences and Engineering category at ±«Óătv’s internal symposium. She then went on to win first place in the Engineering, Technologies, and Computer Science category at the state-level competition, where she competed against top graduate students from institutions including the University of Florida and the University of Miami.
Her research is conducted through ±«Óătv’s Auditory Development and Connectomics Lab, where she continues to explore the complex architecture of the brain’s auditory pathways.
Amick’s achievements highlight the strength of ±«Óătv’s graduate research programs and reinforce the university’s commitment to advancing excellence in STEM fields.
