Shelton Gilyard

Shelton Gilyard was selected into the American Psychological Association Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship Program (IMFP) for 2022-2024 cohorts. This fellowship supports the training of minority graduate students who are committed to improving the quality of care provided to ethnic and racial minorities who have a mental or co-occurring mental and substance use disorder. The IMFP works towards reducing health disparities among ethnic minorities in the U.S. Shelton’s research interest involves health disparities, early identification of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), access to mental health services, and research that promotes athlete wellbeing in the field of sports social work. The APA-IMFP program will provide Shelton with training and mentorship opportunities to prepare him as a future social work scholar.
